– The World Health Organization is calling for a moratorium on COVID-19 vaccine booster shots until at least the end of September, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a news briefing in Geneva on Wednesday. According to Mr. Ghebreyesus, this is to make sure every country can vaccinate at least 10% of its population as soon as possible. Some countries have already begun to administer 3rd shots of vaccine to increase resistance to the more virulent Delta and Delta plus variants.
