10 countries recognize Vietnam’s vaccine passport

Ten countries have endorsed Vietnam’s vaccine passport, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said at a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday. Vietnam’s vaccine passport has been recognized by Japan, the US, the UK, Australia, India, Belarus, Cambodia, the Philippines, Palestine, and Maldives.

Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said Vietnam is considering recognizing the vaccine passports of 79 countries and territories who have been negotiating with the Foreign Ministry.

“Foreigners and Vietnamese citizens with valid documents, like permanent or temporary residence cards, valid visas, or visa exemption cards, can enter Vietnam provided they follow all relevant laws and regulations. People who want to enter Vietnam for work, investment, or to attend meetings or conferences, but do not have the necessary documents, will need to seek approval from a ministry, agency, or local authority following Vietnamese law,” Hang said.

Vietnam has resumed regular commercial flights to a number of countries and territories in Asia and to the United States. It is negotiating with partners to resume air routes to Australia and Europe.
