Adapted from the well-known story of the Wizard Of Oz, our story begins when Dorothy tries to save her dog, Toto, from a storm. She's miraculously whisked away to an urban fantasy-land called Oz where, upon her arrival, she is told about The Wiz, a wizard who can help her get back home.

The Adventures of William Yaxley presents a survey of an important mid-career Australian artist.

Self-taught, Yaxley worked in isolation from Australian art centres to develop an idiosyncratic style.

6. Centenary Rocks Festival

ROCKS RIVERSIDE PARK

SOME of Brisbane's best known bands will be taking to the stage for the festival, which is the premier event of Brisbane's western suburbs. Bands include Rising Suns Army Rock Band, Little Steely Brothers, Centenary Swingers, Silken Thomas, Rough Red, the Jindalee Jazz Orchestra, Smokin Crawdads and The Empresarios.

7. The Australian Lure Fly and Outdoor Expo

Saturday and Sunday 9am - 4pm

THE National Lure Fly & Outdoors Expo is the greatest ever celebration of fishing lures, lure making and fly tying. Old lures, new lures, timber lures, plastic lures, metal lures, skirted lures, wet flies, dry flies, spinnerbaits or custom lures and flies then this is the place to see them.

8. Blackstone Welsh Church 133rd anniversary

Sunday from 2pm

Blackstone Welsh Church, Thomas St, Blackstone

A special guest minister will lead the celebrations of this popular Ipswich church's 133rd birthday.

The Bella Nova Singers will also perform, before afternoon tea is served.

9. RSPCA Christmas in July

SUNDAY 8am - noon

RSPCA WACOL CAMPUS

HEAD along to RSPCA Wacol Animal Care Campus on Sunday, July 17, 8am to noon, and enjoy RSPCA's Christmas in July Markets. Make it a family day as they have lots to do and see from market stalls, kids' entertainment and music to meeting Santa and his Elves.

The RSPCA does not encourage visitors to bring their personal pets along on the day.

10. RAAF Amberley Heritage Centre

SUNDAY JULY 17 9AM-3PM

RAAF BASE AMBERLEY

See an iconic F-111 supersonic strike bomber, and the early jet fighters, the Sabre and Mirage. Then there are the two bombers - a Second World War Boston and the Vietnam-era Canberra. Climb into the Caribou battlefield airlifter, inspect the Army Pilatus Porter, Iroquois (Huey) and more.

All visitors over 16 must provide photographic identification.

Admission is free and photography is welcomed.
