Snow fell on the top of Fansipan Mountain – the highest peak in Indochina – on Sunday when a strong cold spell hit Vietnam. According to authorities of the northern province of Lao Cai, home to Fansipan, the temperature at the mountain is dropping further, and sleet or frost is forecast to continue. The national weather center reported on Monday that the cold spell will continue to affect the north and north central regions, with the lowest temperatures of 9 – 12 degrees Celsius in low areas, and 4 – 7 degree Celsius in high mountainous areas.
