34 killed, 68 injured as blast rocks Kabul, Afghanistan

Afghanistan's health ministry spokesperson Wahidullah Mayar said up to 34 people have been confirmed dead and 68 persons were injured after a powerful blast rocked Kabul on Monday morning outside the defense ministry building.

Gunmen then clashed with Afghan forces after the powerful blast. The security forces cordoned off the area and did not allow journalists to get access to the site of the incident. Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the attack which it said targeted the technical department of the Afghan ministry of defense.
