36-million USD clean energy project launched

A USAID-funded clean energy project worth 36 million USD in Vietnam was activated at a ceremony in Hanoi on Saturday.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang Anh, and Director of USAID Vietnam Ann Marie Yastishock attended the event. The project was announced by US Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to Vietnam in August, 2021.

The Vietnam Low Emissions Energy Program II (V-LEEP II) finances the production of 2,000 WM of renewable energy and 1,000 MW of gas power. It will provide technical support for Vietnam to realize its goals of sustainable energy transition, support cooperation, organize capacity building activities, and connect technology transfer and electric management.
