The 3rd session of the 14th National Assembly closed on Wednesday in Hanoi with the attendance of Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other senior leaders.

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said deputies made recommendations on law-making and oversight, and decided important national issues. The session analyzed the socio-economic situation last year and this year. The National Assembly dedicated 3 days to a Q and A session to respond to people's concerns and aspirations. Chairwoman Ngan said: The 3rd session of the National Assembly has seen significant renovation and progress. The Assembly allocated proper time to discuss the implementation of socio-economic tasks and to question cabinet members. The discussions were frank, democratic, and constructive.

During the session, the National Assembly conducted diplomatic activities to enhance bilateral ties with other parliaments. It worked with the Cuban National Assembly and Haitian Senate delegations who were on their visits to Vietnam. Cuban National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez delivered a speech to the Vietnamese National Assembly, highlighting the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Chairwoman Ngan underscored the deputies' tasks: National Assembly deputies need to be more active in law-making and oversight, hold more meetings with voters, and listen to voters' concerns and aspirations. They need to clearly understand current social conditions in order to make timely recommendations to the National Assembly, the Government, and relevant agencies.
