Acting president Hwang Kyo-ahn won’t enter presidential election

Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, South Korea's acting president, said Wednesday he will not run for the presidency in May.

He has held this position since last December, following President Park Geun-hye's impeachment. Hwang's popularity is high among conservative voters, leading to speculations that he might run for presidency. At a cabinet meeting, he vowed to manage the election transparently and fairly.
