ADMM 12: ASEAN establishes network to address new security challenges

The 12th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM) opened in Singapore on Friday in Singapore. The Vietnamese delegation to the meeting was led by Minister of Defense Ngo Xuan Lich.

At the meeting, participants from 10 ASEAN countries agreed to establish a network to address new security challenges posed by chemical, biological, and radioactive threats. The Ministers pledged to continue strengthening the fight against terrorism on the basis of defense and military cooperation, and to conduct joint marine and aviation drills without escalating tensions. They once again reiterated the importance of solidarity and unity within ASEAN to effectively respond to common security challenges.

ADMM is the highest defense cooperation and consultation mechanism of ASEAN, aiming to foster mutual trust among member countries through sharing perspectives on defense and security challenges, while improving the transparency and openness among the ten ASEAN countries.
