All Syria sides confirm attendance at Geneva talks

The United Nations said on Tuesday that the Syrian government and opposition parties in Syria confirmed their attendance at peace talks set to resume in Geneva this week despite renewed fighting around Damascus.

The upcoming peace talk will focus on governance, constitutional exchanges, and elections in addition to counter-terrorism, security, and confidence-building measures, said UN spokeswoman Alessandra Vellucci.

Syrian UN Envoy Staffan de Mistura is currently visiting Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Turkey before returning to Geneva to lead the talks. The fifth round of peace talks between the Syrian government and the oppositions is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
