The Hanoi Ao dai Tourism Festival will take place from next Friday at the pedestrian street area around Hoan Kiem Lake in downtown Hanoi, according to the municipal Department of Tourism. The opening ceremony will include three parts featuring the history of Ao dai (traditional long dress).

Ao dai performances staged by tourism, airline, and accomodation businesses will be the highlight of the festival, demonstrating the transformation of the Ao dai from “cultural ambassador” to “tourism ambassador.”

Visitors will also enjoy a show of Ao dai worn by domestic and international models.

More than 700 women from different generations will take part in a large-scale Ao dai parade to be organized by the Hanoi Women’s Union.
