Aquatic exports to exceed US$7bln in 2014

VGP – Viet Nam expects to earn US$7 billion from exporting aquatic products, confirmed the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

In the third quarter of this year, the nation’s aquatic exports attained US$2.2 billion, bringing the total to US$5.8 billion over the past nine months of the year, showing a year-on-year increase of 21%.

Except for the exports of tuna that went down by 12.5%, the shipment of other products saw a double digit growth rate (at around 13-14%).

The export turnover of shrimp witnessed the highest growth rate with 42% to US$2.9 billion, of which US$1.7 billion came from white-leg shrimp.It accounted for 50.6% of the total.

The Tra fish exports reached US$1.3 billion in 9 months, equalling the same period last year.

Viet Nam’s aquatic products have been exported to 166 markets all over the world, most of which experienced growth from 15-45%.
