Art show remembers Truong Bon volunteers
A victory in the war against the Americans was commemorated at a ceremony at the Truong Bon historical site in the central Nghe An province on Thursday.
The battle's 50th anniversary was marked by an artistic programme called Truong Bon - The Legendary Land, highlighting the sacrifice of soldiers and volunteers who made great contributions to the nation's victory against foreign invaders. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, said: Truong Bon saw many Vietnamese soldiers sacrifice their lives for national independence. This anniversary reminds us of Vietnam's glorious revolutionary tradition and teaches young people about the patriotism, and staunch revolutionary spirit of their predecessors.
Nhan Dan newspaper observed the occasion by giving savings books to the families of volunteers who made great contributions to the revolution.
Truong Bon held a strategic position in the supply route from north to south during the anti-American war. It was struck by more than 20,000 US bombs and missiles between 1964 and 1968.
