Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he supports upgrading the Australia-Vietnam relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as he met National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on Wednesday at the Australian Parliament House. The Australian Prime Minister agreed with Chairman Hue’s proposal on creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese agricultural workers to work in Australia and encourage more Australian citizens to travel and work in Vietnam and more Australian enterprises to invest in Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated major achievements that the majority Labor Government led by Prime Minister Albanese has recorded over the past 6 months, especially in economic development, social security policy implementation and response to climate change, which he said has affirmed  Australia’s growing prestige and role worldwide.

The two sides exchanged views on international issues and reiterated their commitment to the centrality of ASEAN and a region of peace, prosperity, stability, and respect for sovereignty. They reaffirmed that disputes, including those in the East Sea, should be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
