At a trilateral summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliev and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to give up using force to resolve their dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh region and settle the conflict based on respect for each other’s sovereignty. The meeting, held on Monday in Russia, discussed a peace treaty to end decades of conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Putin called the meeting very useful and said it created a very good atmosphere for possible future agreements.
He said it is in everyone’s interest to normalize relations, and he promised that Russia will do everything it can to find a definitive and comprehensive settlement.
