Brexit: Labour Party calls for new EU referendum

UK opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn on Tuesday called on the next Prime Minister to hold a second Brexit referendum, and said his Labour party will campaign for the UK to remain in the European Union.

The UK has until a October 31 deadline to exit the EU. Prime Minister Theresa May announced her resignation two months ago after failing to get her EU withdrawal deal approved by Parliament. Her replacement, who is currently being discussed by Conservative Party members, will be either former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson or incumbent Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt. The winner will be announced later this month and will be charged with getting a Brexit deal through a deeply divided Parliament.
