Can Tho enjoys record trade surplus in 9 months

VGP – The southern city of Can Tho enjoyed a record trade surplus of US$616 million over the first nine months of 2014, according to the municipal Department of Planning and Investment.

The city’s exports and imports were estimated at US$914 million and US$298 million, respectively in nine months.

The export turnover of two key items including rice and seafood reached 532,000 tons and 70,000 tons, worth US$723 million, accounting for 79% of the total.

The city earned US$181 million from other products such as garments and textiles, pharmaceuticals, art and handicrafts, footwear, iron and steel, fruits and canned mushrooms, up from 4-29% compared to the same period last year.
