Can Tho works to send more laborers to work abroad

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho sent around 300 laborers to go to work abroad in 2018, a rise of 14 percent from 2017 and its competent departments and agencies are working together for higher figure this year.

Chau Hong Thai, Vice Director of the city's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said Japan, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan are the most attractive markets to Vietnamese laborers as their policies allow guest workers to work up to five years.

To increase the number of the city's guest workers, the department has since the beginning of this year matched four labor recruiters from Malaysia and the Republic of Korea with the municipal job placement center to select eligible laborers for working overseas.

Besides, it has been intensifying its communications on job requirements, needs and salaries of foreign markets via TV and radio programs, leaflets, and social networks.

In the first quarter, the center and labor, invalids and social affairs offices of wards and districts organized job festivals to connect local people with employers.
