Overseas Vietnamese in Canada celebrated the traditional Lunar New Year of Vietnam in an online event on Saturday hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy and the Canada-Vietnam Society. Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, said the Lunar New Year of 2022 is the year of the Tiger which symbolizes strength, courage, and confidence, all describe the Vietnamese-Canadian community. She said the Vietnam-Canada Joint Economic Committee will help strengthen the bilateral trade ties and the relations between the two peoples.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent New Year wishes to Overseas Vietnamese in Canada, saying that Tet is the time to welcome a new beginning and be grateful for what connected Vietnam and Canada. He also said that Canada always acknowledges the unmeasurable contributions of the Overseas Vietnamese over the years.
