Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway begins operation on Nov 6

 

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway project will begin operation on Saturday, the Ministry of Transport and the Hanoi People’s Committee said at a press conference on Thursday. After 13 years of construction, the project, the first pilot urban railway in Vietnam, will run from Cat Linh Station in downtown Dong Da District to Yen Nghia Station in south-western Ha Dong District in Hanoi.

The railway line costs 790 million USD invested and built with loans from China and reciprocal capital from Vietnam. It takes some 20 minutes to travel the entire route of 13 km.

The official handover and operation of the first pilot urban railway line of Hanoi is expected to pave the way for future urban railway network.

The Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway line can carry more than 1 million people a day. The frequency of train running in peak hours is 6 minutes per trip and during normal hours, 10 minutes per trip.
