China, EU hold strategic dialogue
China and the European Union have committed to deepening their strategic cooperation and protecting multilateralism.
The commitment was made at the 8th round of the high-level strategic dialogue in Brussels on Friday co-chaired by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. Minister Wang called on both sides to strengthen strategic communication and coordination in international affairs. He said "China and the EU should work together to maintain the multilateral international regime centered around the United Nations, to promote political settlements of regional hotspot issues, and to reform and improve the global governance system."
Ms. Mogherini agreed on the importance of the EU-China relations, saying the EU is ready to work with China to maintain and consolidate the multilateral system with the United Nations being the core and law-based international order.
