China: US metal tariffs will ruin trade agreements

Trade deals with the US "will not take effect" if President Donald Trump imposes tariffs on Chinese goods, Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said at a 2-day meeting with US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in Beijing.

China said it is ready to import more from other countries, including the US, but all economic and trade achievements negotiated by the two parties in the meeting will be void if the US applies trade sanctions, including tariffs on Chinese goods.

The statement came after the US imposed tariffs, 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum imported from Canada, Mexico, and the EU.
