China’s top diplomat calls for new journey of peaceful coexistence with US

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday met with representatives from the National Committee on United States-China Relations, the US-China Business Council and the United States Chamber of Commerce. Wang said that the world today is far from peace, as the COVID-19 pandemic has yet to end, and the Ukraine crisis was inflamed.

As the China-US relationship is now at a low ebb since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Wang said both sides should work together to find a way of peaceful coexistence for two major countries with different social systems, histories and cultures.

At a meeting with US former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in New York the same day, Mr. Wang Yi expressed his hope that Dr. Kissinger will continue his unique and important role in helping bilateral relations for an early return on the right track.
