Chinese, US markets forecast to determine Vietnam’s seafood export growth in Q2

Vietnam’s seafood exports earned more than 1 billion USD and grew 41% in April, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Aquatic product exports in the first four months of the year totaled 3.6 billion USD, up 44.5% from last year. The two main export products, shrimp and pangasius, both enjoyed high growth in many markets, thanks to increased demand and good prices.

China and the US are two markets with triple-digit growth, the best in the past four months, said VASEP. Seafood exports to the EU, Japan, South Korea, and other markets recorded double-digit growth over the past 4 months.

According to VASEP, the US and China will continue to determine the growth rate of Vietnam’s seafood exports in the coming months.

Seafood exports in the second quarter are forecast to reach between 2.8 billion and 3 billion USD, an increase of 36 to 38% from last year.
