City leader receives the LDS Church

HNP - Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung hosted a reception for a delegation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints (LDS Church or Mormon Church) on January 28th.

At the reception, Mr. Evan F.David - President of the Asia Area of the LDS Church thanked the Ha Noi People's Committee for creating favourable conditions for the Church to operate and develop over the past years, and expressed his impression at the city's strong growth and development over the past years.

According to Hoang Van Tung, Chairman of the Interim Representative Committee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Viet Nam, the Church has encouraged its followers to participate in the construction of the capital and the country, and abide by law.

Expressing his excitement at annual activities held by the LDS Church, Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung highly appreciated charity activities which contribute to the city's development as well as ensuring security and order in the area, and introducing the city's images to the world.

Briefing the delegation about outstanding achievements of socio-economic development in 2018, the city leader said that, over the past year Ha Noi has synchronously and drastically taken various solutions to stabilize the macro economy, enhance socio-economic development, and fulfill 20 targets.

After all, total budget collection reached VND 248 trillion, exceeding 2.5% over the estimate, up 15% year on year. Especially, the city takes the lead in FDI attraction with US$ 7.5 billion; Ha Noi welcomes 26.4 tourists (up 10.4%), including 6.05 million foreign visitors (up 21.3%), etc.

However, during the development process, Ha Noi has coped with many challenges, such as environmental pollution, climate change, waste treatment, etc., the Chairman noted.

He stressed that Ha Noi hoped to continue receiving more contributions of the Church and followers to the development.
