Con Dao airport to be upgraded to serve larger aircraft

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has proposed a project to upgrade Con Dao airport in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, enabling it to receive larger aircraft. According to the proposal, the airport’s runway system will be upgraded to accommodate the A321 or equivalent aircraft.

Work of the project is expected to start this year and be completed in 2023, with a total capital of more than 105 million USD sourced from the State budget.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Con Dao airport served nearly 450,000 passengers last year, up 4% from 2019.

In the adjusted airport planning by 2030, Con Dao airport will be able to serve 2 million passengers and 4,400 tonnes of cargo per year.
