Contributors to ensuring security of DPRK-USA summit honored

The Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday granted certificates of merit to 33 collectives and 55 individuals for outstanding performances in ensuring security for the second DPRK-USA summit, which was held in Hanoi last Wednesday and Thursday.

Minister of Public Security General To Lam said that despite a short period to complete preparations, relevant units fulfilled all tasks assigned by the Party and State.

The Ministry received close cooperation from other ministries, sectors, and localities, especially the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and support from the public, Mr. Lam added.

The Lao newspapers Pasaxon (The People) and Pathetlao (Lao Nation) on Tuesday published praise from the Lao foreign ministry's spokesperson for the efforts made by Kim and Trump at their second summit in Hanoi last week. The statement also lauded the Vietnamese Government and people for hosting the event in the interest of regional and world peace. The spokesperson said the meeting consolidated trust and mutual understanding between the DPRK and the US and will serve as a foundation for future talks.
