COVID-19: 158 new cases recorded in 7 localities

 

– Vietnam recorded an additional 159 coronavirus cases, including 158 local infections in 7 localities nationwide from 6pm on Wednesday to 6am on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health.

Most of the new cases were documented in quarantine and lockdown areas.

Bac Giang province, which is the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, took the lead with 87 locally transmitted cases. It was followed by Ho Chi Minh City (45), Tien Giang (11), Binh Duong (7), Bac Ninh (6), Lang Son (1), and Ha Tinh (1).

A Vietnamese national also tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Wednesday after returning from Japan on June 2.

Overall, Vietnam has logged a total of 11,794 cases, both locally transmitted and imported infections. The number of cured cases is 4,590. 61 COVID-19 deaths have been reported.

24 provinces have not recorded new cases for 14 days.
