COVID-19 spreads to 219 countries, territories

 

As of Saturday morning, the world has recorded more than 183 million COVID-19 infections, nearly 4 million have died. The number of daily new cases continues to decrease globally while Asian countries and Brazil are new pandemic hotspots. The epidemic has spread to 219 countries and territories. More than 100 countries confirmed new cases on Friday morning and 90 countries confirmed more deaths.

India on Friday became the 3rd countries that has more than 400,000 COVID-19 deaths. South Korea on Friday recorded the highest number of new infections in 6 months. Europe is facing a new COVID-19 wave, which the WHO said was the consequence of the large number of audiences to football matches of the EURO 2020’s final round. Africa is seeing the record high transmission rate due to the SARS-CoV-2’s Delta variants with many new cases confirmed in 6 consecutive weeks. The Guatemalan Health Ministry has declared the highest alarm as new cases and casualties have been record high in the last 15 days.
