Cultural, tourism development plan for central region announced

VGP – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced a master plan on developing culture, sports and tourism of the central key economic region to 2020 with a vision to 2030 at a ceremony in Da Nang city on January 9.

The region covers Da Nang city, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces.

Cities of Da Nang and Hue (Thua Thien-Hue province) are planned to become centers of culture, arts, scientific studies and human resource training in culture and arts for central and highlands regions in order to organize national and international cultural events. Special national relics, outstanding and distinguished cultural heritages of the localities and cultural values of ethnic minority groups will be prioritized to be preserved and promoted.

The localities are encouraged to promote the values of traditional performance arts and continue hosting national and international cultural events in order to create cultural and art brand names for the region.

Synchronized modern cultural facilities in urban areas, which play a stimulating role in the region’s development, will be consolidated and developed.

The region is also planned to become a sports center, particularly Da Nang city, for the central and highlands region. Sports movements will be promoted in the public and games of local strengths will be invested to develop. In addition, facilities for training high-quality sports will be upgraded.

In tourism, the region is planned to become a large tourism center of the country with distinguished and competitive products.

The region is expected to lure some six million international arrivals and eight million local tourists by 2020, according to the master plan./.
