Dau Ram ceramic vase, Ngoa Van golden box recognized as national treasures

Two more ancient items have been added to the collection of Vietnam's national treasures.

The northern border province of Quang Ninh on Monday announced the addition of the Dau Ram ceramic vase and the Ngoa Van-Yen Tu golden box at an exhibition featuring the life of King Tran Nhan Tong in the 13th century who ceded his throne to his son and became a monk. The Dau Ram ceramic vase which dated back 4,000 years is shaped like a bamboo papoose with a square base. Baked without a kiln, it is the only representative of ceramic art of the Phung Nguyen culture in the northern region.

The Ngoa Van-Yen Tu golden box is made of pure gold representing a blooming lotus with sophisticated decorations. It weighs more than 56 grams and has a diameter of 4.9 cm. Its cover is crafted with 4 layers consisting 87 pieces of gold to symbolize the petals of the lotus.
