Deputy PM Calls for SEMI SEA’s Assistance in Semiconductor, AI Industry

Hanoi: Vietnam expects to receive assistance from the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Association (SEMI SEA) to realise its aspiration for becoming a centre for semiconductor research, AI development, and human resources training in these critical sectors, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has said. Hosting a reception for a delegation from SEMI SEA, led by its President Linda Tan, in Hanoi on April 16, Dung praised the association for its initiatives supporting Vietnam's semiconductor industry development over the recent past.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration with SEMI SEA to enhance Vietnam's capabilities in these sectors. By leveraging SEMI SEA's expertise and resources, Vietnam aims to strengthen its position as a key player in the semiconductor and AI industries within the region. During the meeting, Dung highlighted the potential benefits of such collaboration, including the development of a skilled workforce and the advancement of technological research in Vietnam.

SEMI SEA's President Linda Tan acknowledged Vietnam's ambitions and expressed the association's commitment to supporting the country's goals. She noted that the partnership could lead to significant breakthroughs in technology and innovation, benefiting both Vietnam and the wider Southeast Asian region. The discussions between the Vietnamese government and SEMI SEA mark a strategic step forward in realizing Vietnam's vision for technological advancement and economic growth in the semiconductor and AI fields.
