Disadvantaged workers and children nationwide supported ahead of Tet

Activities to support disadvantaged workers and children ahead of Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, have taken place nationwide.

Phu Quoc island in Kien Giang province hosted a Tet celebration event on Wednesday for 280 poor local workers. Addressing the event, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam Nguyen Hoa Binh asked provincial trade unions at all levels to care for workers and protect their legitimate rights and interests.

Also on Wednesday, the Voice of Vietnam and the Vietnam Journalists Association co-organized a program in Hanoi to support children in the border areas of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh province. Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Ho Quang Loi said: "The program called Spring of children for the past years has achieved positive results in assisting and supporting people in the central region. It also promotes the solidarity of the Vietnamese people."

A similar event took place on Monday in Binh Duong province where sponsors donated 290,000 USD to help local disadvantaged children have a happy new year.
