DPM meets with Malaysian PM

Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh met with Malaysian PM Najib Razak during his official visit to Malaysia from July 11-13.

The two sides assessed that the Viet Nam-Malaysia strategic partnership has had fine and practical developments in key areas, namely politics, national defense, security, economics, trade-investment, justice, labor, and maritime cooperation.

Malaysian PM Najib Razak underlined his support for the bilateral ties in different channels from Party, Government, State, National Assembly, to people-to-people exchanges. He also expressed the pleasure to attend the APEC Summit in Da Nang this November.

Both sides were unanimous in preparing for the upcoming official visit of Vietnamese General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and practical events on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2018.

Mr. Najib Razak pledged to direct competent agencies to work with Vietnamese partners to early sign agreements on fishing, maritime petrol forces, establishment of a hotline and joint patrols between the two navies,, and release of Vietnamese fishermen and vessels captured in Malaysia's waters.

The two sides were unanimous in promoting economics, trade, and investment, especially petroleum, renewable energy, and rice trading.

The Malaysian Government agreed to support Vietnamese enterprises in agricultural and aquaculture products; and created favorable ways for Vietnamese guest workers to work under labor contracts.

PM Najib Razak also ensured just investigation and trial of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Xuan Huong and facilitate the overseas Vietnamese community's life and business there.

Besides bilateral issues, PM Najib Razak and Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh also discussed ASEAN cooperation and acknowledged the necessity to beef up internal cooperation so that the bloc would play a central role in handling strategic issues, including the East Sea ones./.
