Egypt pledges support for establishment of Palestinian state

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi reiterated Egypt's constant support for the right of the Palestinians to establish their independent state, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement on Saturday.

Sisi's remarks was made during a phone call to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in the statement that President Sisi underscored Egypt's constant keenness on reaching a fair and comprehensive solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinians to establish their independent state in compliance with international legitimate resolutions.

For his part, Abbas praised Egypt's support for the Palestinian rights and its efforts in achieving inter-Palestinian reconciliation that would help the Palestinians deal with various challenges confronting their major cause.

The two presidents agreed to continue intensive coordination and consultation on the Palestinian issue and ways to resume negotiations between Palestine and Isreal.
