Establishing humanitarian corridors in Ukraine is a must: NATO

Establishing humanitarian corridors in Ukraine for evacuations and aid is the bare minimum to be done now, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday, adding it was important for the top Russian and Ukrainian diplomats to have met.

Stoltenberg made the statement on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum taking place the same day in Turkey.

He insisted that the alliance would not send troops or jets into Ukraine, adding he continued to believe in working hard for a political, diplomatic solution and the bare minimum is to set up humanitarian corridors where people can get out and humanitarian aid can get in.

According to Stoltenberg, a no-fly zone over Ukraine would most likely escalate the conflict to a full-fledged war between NATO and Russia.

Stoltenberg clarified NATO’s responsibility to prevent this conflict from escalating beyond Ukraine’s borders to becoming a full-fledged war between Russia and NATO.
