The European Council has approved a credit support package worth 18 billion euros (18.9 billion USD) for Ukraine in 2023. 

The EC said in a statement on Saturday that the proposal was adopted by the Council via written procedure and it will be submitted to the European Parliament for its possible adoption next week.

The loans will have a 10-year grace period. The guarantees for that borrowing will be provided either by the EU budget or by member states.

The EU hopes that its financial package together with contributions from the US and other major international donors will ensure the necessary aid for Ukraine.
