EU boosts security and defence strategy implementation

The EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday began a joint session of defense and foreign ministers to assess progress achieved on actions agreed to by the EU last December in Brussels.

They discussed the outlook of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP), EU-NATO cooperation, and the EU Commission's proposals to enhance defense research. The Council also talked about Middle East peace, the political situation in Congo, and EU energy policy. Their conclusions will be reported to the EU Summit on Thursday and Friday.
