EU leaders agree to Brexit delay until October

EU leaders agreed on Wednesday to delay Brexit until the end of October, the second time they have extended the Brexit deadline.

The proposal has been sent to British Prime Minister Theresa May for her approval.

Most EU leaders favored a 1-year extension, but France, Belgium, and Austria convinced the others to agree to a shorter extension provided the UK does not interfere in EU affairs.

If May agrees, the UK will remain in the EU until after the European Parliament elections set to take place in May, so, the UK will have to take part in those elections.
