EU passes budget plan in case Brexit deal fails

The European Council has approved an emergency annual budget plan in case Brexit fails.

If the UK refuses to contribute to EU's budget in 2019, the EC will put forward a revised plan for funding science research and agriculture.

The UK's exit from the EU, scheduled for the end of October, will leave a big hole in the EU's budget, affecting its policies on foreign investment, employment, anti-terrorism activities, and the financial contributions of the remaining EU 27 members.
