EU reaffirms support for Iran’s nuclear deal

The EU will stand by the historic nuclear accord reached between Iran and the P5+1 despite blunt condemnation by US President-elect Donald Trump, said Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on Monday.

She said the European Union will continue to work for the respect and implementation of this extremely important deal, most of all for European security. The deal, which began to take effect in early 2016, has proven effective in warming economic and trade relations between Iran and the West.

The EU and Trump are split on a range of issues, including the Iran nuclear accord and the US's relationship with NATO.
