Exports to Hong Kong, Brazil rocket

VGP – Viet Nam’s two-way trade with Hong Kong and Brazil reached US$2.1 billion and US$1.275 billion in the first half, seeing year-on-year increases of 31.36% and 18%, respectively.

According to the Viet Nam Customs, Viet Nam earned US$551.13 million from exporting cameras, movie cameras and spare parts to Hong Kong (China), up 39.58% and accounting for 27% of its total export turnover from the market.

Other export items to Hong Kong witnessed sharp increases such as computers, electronics and components up 86.59%, fiber up 90.66%, handbags, wallets, suitcases, umbrellas and hats up 71.82%, products from rubber up 54.52% and fruits and vegetables up 92.22%.

Through Hong Kong, Viet Nam will have more chances to enter deeply in the mainland Chinese market and other nations.

According to Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Viet Nam’s exports and imports with Brazil in the first half hit US$732.6 million and US$542.5 million, up 33.3% and 2.2%, respectively.

Viet Nam mainly exports phones, footwear, fish, fiber and circuits and imports corns, soybeans, tobacco, cotton and other materials from Brazil.

Last year, the two nations’ two-way trade value set a new record of US$2.33 billion, up 42.3%.
