Exports to Hong Kong rocket in January

VGP – Viet Nam’s exports to Hong Kong (China) in January increased 45.34% against the same period last year, reaching US$518.91 million, according to the Viet Nam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The exports of computers, electronics and spare parts surpassed other items sold to Hong Kong with US$169.01 million, up 329.91% and accounting for 32%.

Other items marked with high growth in the export turnover were garment and footwear material up 167.63%, electric wire and cable up 126.46%, mental up 337.81%, vegetables and fruits up 242.71% and paper up 151.02%.

In January only, Viet Nam’s import turnover from China attained US$4.481 billion, US$194 million more than the previous month and US$1.64 billion higher than the same period last year.

The import turnover of machines, equipment and tools ranked first with US$910 million, accounting for 20.31%, followed by phones and accessories with US$731 million, making up 16.32% and computers, electrics and spare parts with US$438 million, accounting for 9.78%.
