First medals won at SEA Games

 Malaysia topped the medal table of the 31st Southeast Asian Games for winning 2 gold and 1 silver medals on the first day of diving at the My Dinh Aquatic Centre in Hanoi on Sunday. Vietnam came in 2nd place with 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. Vietnam’s Nguyen Tung Duong-Phung The Anh finished second to win silver in the men’s synchronized 3m springboard, while Ngo Phuong Mai claimed the bronze in the women’s 1m springboard.

Diving competition continues on Monday and two sets of medals will be awarded to athletes.

The Sunday evening match between U23 Vietnam and Philippines ended with a goalless draw in Group A men’s football. After two matches, Vietnam has the same 4 points as the Philippines, but continues to be behind their rival due to goal difference. Vietnam will have 5 days off before facing Myanmar on Friday.
