Foreigners, OVs to benefit from favorable entry procedures

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has given in-principle approval to favorable entry procedures for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese and their relatives. According to a dispatch recently issued by Mr. Minh, foreigners entering Vietnam may be invited or sponsored by agencies, organizations, or individuals in line with the law on foreigners’ entry into, exit from, transit through, and residence in Vietnam.

Foreigners wishing to come to Vietnam for a short tourist visit are still welcome under the pilot program on reopening to international tourists.

Foreigners and overseas Vietnamese and their relatives with valid entry papers can enter Vietnam without undergoing a personal examination or additional visa procedures. They also don’t need to seek entry approval from any ministry, sector, or locality.

If a foreigner doesn’t have a visa, a provincial-level People’s Committee can approve their entry they can work, attend meetings, study, or engage in humanitarian activities.

Ministries, sectors, and central agencies will make decisions about inviting foreigners to come and work with them, and will be responsible for managing those persons, according to the dispatch.
