Former German vice chancellor joins VinaCapital Ventures

VinaCapital Ventures, the technology investment company of VinaCapital, has appointed former German Vice Chancellor Philipp RAlsler as the Chairman of its Advisory Board.

VinaCapital Ventures said it believes that Dr. RAlsler can contribute his extensive experience working in various government positions and private management environments. Mr. RAlsler said on Friday that Vietnam is blessed with enormous energy and talent and he looks forward to playing a part in helping Vietnamese startups realize their full potential.

Philipp RAlsler is a German of Vietnamese origin. He was born in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang in 1973 and adopted by a German couple at 9 months. Mr. RAlsler was the youngest Chairman of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) when he took office in May 2011. He was Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics and Technology in Angela Merkel's government until December 2013.
