German investment in VN exceeds US$1.3 bln

VGP – Germany ranked 22nd among 101 nations and territories investing in Viet Nam.

As of August this year, Germany has invested US$1.34 billion in 236 projects in Viet Nam, according to the Foreign Investment Agency, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

A total number of 88 German projects in the field of manufacturing and processing industry had a total registered capital of US$626.82 million, which accounted for 50% of total registered capital.

Meanwhile, the electricity, gas and water production and distribution sector received US$386.68 million in five projects.

German investment in Viet Nam mainly came in the form of 100foreign investment with 177 projects worth US$917.93 million and joint-venture with 52 projects, worth US$409.16 million.

Ho Chi Minh City led in attracting German investment with US$234.34 million in 93 projects, followed by Ninh Thuan Province with US$156.7 million and Dong Nai Province with US$145.63 million.

Viet Nam invested in 17 projects in Germany with a total investment of US$92 million.
