Germany’s Chancellor to visit Russia in May

German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to visit Russia on May 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

Putin disclosed the date of the visit at a meeting in Moscow with Horst Seehofer, Minister-President of Germany's Bavaria. The agenda for the visit has not been revealed but it is likely to focus on the Ukraine crisis, EU sanctions on Russia, and trade relations between the two countries.

During an earlier meeting with German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, Putin stressed the need to resolve all the problems Russia and Germany currently face and to completely normalize bilateral relations.
