Greek wildfires kill 60

Greece is seeking international assistance to cope with its worst fire crisis in more than a decade, which have killed 60, injured 150 and destroyed dozens of homes and cars.

A spokesman for the Greek government said Tuesday that most victims were found inside houses, or cars in Mati resort, 40km northeast of Athens. He said 16 children were among the injured.

Hundreds of firefighters have been battling the flames while locals evacuated to safety . A special search and rescue campaign was conducted to locate a group of 10 tourists that fled to the sea by boat. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced a state of emergency, adding the government will do everything possible to better control wildfires.
