Gulf tension: Kuwait invites Qatar to GCC summit

Kuwait on Thursday handed Qatar an invitation to attend the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit next week, the Kuwaiti News Agency reports.

The move is the first optimistic sign of resolving the Persian Gulf diplomatic tension over the past 6 months.

Established in 1981, GCC is a political and economic union consisting of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
